Forbidden Broadway's Greatest Hits, presented by GLT
Gulfport Little Theatre is proud to present the hilarious musical, Forbidden Broadway, the Off-Broadway revue parodying musical theatre. It was originally conceived, written, and directed by Gerard Alessandrini. The show will run April 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th, and May 5th, 6th, and 7th at GLT. Friday and Saturday performaces begin at 7:30pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00pm. The show is a cabaret revue sharply spoofing show tunes, characters and plots of contemporary and classic Broadway musicals. Forbidden Broadway has mocked popular shows like The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Les Misérables, Spamalot, Annie, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, and Rent to name a few. It also targets famous Broadway figures, including Mel Brooks, Carol Channing, Kristin Chenoweth, Harvey Fierstein, Bob Fosse, Jerry Herman, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Ethel Merman, Liza Minnelli, Rita Moreno, Mandy Patinkin, Chita Rivera, Stephen Sondheim, and Barbra Streisand. The show features a multigenerational cast of veteran performers from all over the Mississippi Coast including Brian Giglione, Bonnie Hoeg, Jay Lynn, Tina Johnston, Kathe Newcomb, James Rojas, and Susan Smith. With a fast-paced catalogue of musical spoofs that will have you laughing all the way home. The show is directed by Cal Walters, with musical direction by Cherie Cruso Ruff and choreography by AJ Lawson. Performances are at the theatre located at 2600 13th Avenue in Gulfport behind Chris’ Beauty College on Pass Road. Tickets are $16.00 for General Admission, $13.00 for Seniors/Military w/ID, and $11.00 for Child/Student w/ID. There is a special dinner theatre performance at Oak Crest Mansion on Friday, April 28th.
